Transformation, Refinement, & Resurrection

At the beginning of spring, my five-year-old brought me three dandelions and asked if we could put them in a vase. I’ll be honest…I thought it was a waste. They were weeds, already picked, and surely about to die. But I try my best to say yes to my kids unless there’s a real reason not to. So… I said yes.

Those dandelions sat next to my kitchen sink for weeks. And since I spend a lot of time there (like most moms do), I watched them closely. The bright yellow flowers closed and looked like they were dying. I almost threw them away more than once, but something made me leave them. A few days later, they changed. They didn’t die! They transformed! What looked like the end became something new, soft, white, and full of life again.

Motherhood feels a lot like that. It transforms us. There are seasons that feel bright and full and others that feel exhausting, stretching, and refining. Some of us step into motherhood with confidence, others feel like we’re learning everything the hard way, and most of us live somewhere in between.

Wherever you are, God is at work. He is renewing you, shaping you into the mother your children need. Even in the hard, unseen moments, He is doing something beautiful. And just like that dandelion, we don’t stay in one form forever. We are being filled, so we can pour out. We carry seeds of God’s love that we get to plant in our children and in each other.

Watching that simple flower, I couldn’t help but think of the Gospel. What looked like death wasn’t the end. Jesus suffered and died on the cross for our sins, but He didn’t stay there. He rose again, victorious and alive, bringing new life to all of us.

Maybe you feel like you’re in a closed-up season right now—tired, stretched, or unseen. But God isn’t finished with you. He is transforming you. Renewing you. Growing something beautiful that will reach far beyond what you can see.

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2
